Recovering

by Rachel Williams

/

about

Earlier this year, I was sitting down with my buddy Paul Sikes and yet again, dishing all the chaos and drama of my life at that moment. Major family problems, issues in the "dating world", you name it... I felt like I was never gonna get to the top of that mountain. After pondering on some ideas, Paul said he'd had a title that might work great with what was on my mind. The title was "Recovering" and I looooved it...hence, this song was born. Music=therapy

lyrics

Recovering
(Paul Sikes/Rachel Williams)

That mirror will always try reflecting shame
And that drink may always call out my name
And forgiving myself, well I've never done that well
These things have always held the reins

Chorus
But I'm recovering
I'm recovering
And I know I may never recover
But I'm recovering

Every time I stop to pray
I don't expect it all to just go away
The only thing I ask is somehow for my past
To keep it's distance from today

Chorus

It takes everything I've got
To stay off the bottom of the rock
I'm still hit and miss, but the difference is
Sometimes I get a glimpse of the top

Chorus
